Why is it that the week before Mother's Day or Father's Day considered to be a dating "National Holiday", comparable to the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving or Christmas??? It's wrong. At least, it's wrong for those of us who have normal, healthy, functional connections with our parents. It's obviously sad when parents divorce or pass away, but for those that have parents who are still alive, still married, and in good physical health, I say Salut!!!! I don't know whether to condemn or pity those that have a disconnection with their parents due to divorce or alienation/estrangement. A lot people tend to become withdrawn, reclusive, and anti-social during the week leading up to a "holiday" such as Mother's Day.
That's a pretty strong indicator that a recent date, love-interest or a recent contact on an internet dating web site, has some disconnection with their parents, and it's most likely due to divorce or alienation/estrangement. People who have diseased parents are MUCH freer to express that their mother or father or both have passed on, and have a much better understanding of mortality, and that the more significant aspects of life are best shared with a loving companion.
This is one of the M-A-N-Y obstacles of dating. It's a real judgment call, because, after all, if that "new person" has unresolved emotional issues with their mother or father, or both, then that most certainly can manifest itself into potential problems in what would normally be a healthy, loving, intimate relationship.
I have a good relationship with my parents, and I love them dearly. With the absence of a girlfriend or a wife, they are the loves of my life. They are strong, moral, ethical, understanding, objective, supportive and insightful with ample amounts of constructive criticism. All of the above is designed to guide me in the right direction, no matter my age.
The bottom line for those that truly seek a healthy, functional, intimate, monogamous relationship, is that those who are un-usually quiet during periods leading up to Mother's Day or Father's Day are those who most likely need to resolve their emotional demons through whatever means necessary, otherwise, they will forever languish in the purgatory of un-resolved emotions, and will most certainly be incapable of sustaining a long-term relationship due to those un-resolved emotions. Be perceptive and cognizant for these signs to avoid any future calamities.
